Honest Answers
What’s the difference between Outplacement Support and Career Talks?
Outplacement Support is for organizations managing a retrenchment or major organizational exit. It’s a comprehensive, end-to-end service covering planning, notification, legal compliance, and career transition support.
Career Talks are engagement and learning events for your broader workforce consisting of seminars on career planning and resilience, delivered to groups of employees. Career Talks can be pre-emptive (building career ownership and retention) or complementary to an outplacement program.
How long does an Outplacement engagement typically last?
It depends on the scope. Pre-retrenchment planning and manager training typically takes 4-8 weeks. Post-retrenchment career transition support for displaced employees runs 3-6 months, depending on the number of people and their seniority level. We’ll work with you to size the program to your needs and budget.
Can you customize the Career Talk content for our industry or role level?
Yes. We tailor every seminar to your organization’s context, industry, and the specific roles you’re speaking to. A tech company leadership team will hear different case studies and frameworks than an F&B company frontline staff. We’ll discuss your audience and learning objectives before designing the program.
Is the Train Your Managers program only for large organizations?
No. We run programs for teams of 8-10 managers up to 50+. The cohort-based model works at any scale. We can also run a program with your leadership team as a standalone custom engagement if that better fits your needs.
How do you help with legal compliance during retrenchment?
We provide guidance on Employment Act requirements, Workplace Fairness Act 2025 provisions, Tripartite Advisory standards, and MOM procedures. We help you develop fair, documented selection criteria; plan communication timelines; and prepare managers for notification. However, we recommend you also consult your legal counsel on specific employment law questions. Our role is to help with the strategic, HR, and operational dimensions of exit management.
What if we’re not planning a retrenchment right now? Can we still benefit from your services?
Absolutely. Career Talks and Manager Training are pre-emptive initiatives that build career ownership, engagement, and retention, thus reducing the need for retrenchment in the future. Many organizations use Career Talks and Manager Coaching as ongoing learning and engagement initiatives, separate from any exit planning.
How do you measure success?
For Outplacement: smooth execution, legal compliance, preserved employer brand, successful job placement for departing staff, and stable morale among remaining employees. For Career Talks: engagement scores, feedback, and demonstrated learning (through assessments or follow-up surveys). For Manager Training: changes in retention rates, employee engagement scores, internal mobility, and feedback from participating managers.
